Do I need to put anything under the ridge?
Yes, you would want to place closures, either vented or solid under the ridge to ensure a weather tight installation. This would help prevent leaks and any damage that might occur on an open ridge.

Once the metal roofing is fastened down, the panels will not be damaged in any way. The Florida Product Approval Code ensures and allows for installation on top of up to one layer of shingles.
Is underlayment necessary for my project?
Necessity ranges on the specifics of the project. If you are working on a small dog house, underlayment may not be a big concern. However, if you are re-roofing your home, underlayment is a great investment. It acts as a roof under a roof.

Reflectivity translates into energy savings by reducing cooling costs as much as 25%.
